Role Purpose:
To lead packaging research and development work from concept to commercialisation for NPI and Product Value Optimisation maximising competitor advantage through provision of technical expertise within cross functional teams, and through the development of supplier performance.
Specific Areas of Role Accountability:
- Develop leading edge packaging from concept to commercialisation in response to projects arising from the Innovation, Brand Development and Activity funnels
- Manage complex development projects using the appropriate management tools and processes and to time, quality and cost standards.
- Lead or take part in cross functional teams to deliver specific projects
- Support the Marketing team in delivering suitable technical solutions to meet objectives of identified consumer opportunities
- Analyse packaging costs, manufacturing and technical implications of proposed concepts for compatibility with existing process in conjunction with the Supply Chain department or Contract Packers
- Ensure the company complies with all legal requirements in relation to packaging
- Support a continuous programme of product value engineering that maintains or improves packaging quality and reduces packaging costs
- Liaise with packaging suppliers on any technical aspects within the development process and support the approval of any new suppliers
Experience & Skills Required:
- Proven track record of developing and commercialising technical NPI within a branded FMCG organisation
Qualifications Required:
- Honours or Equivalent in Science or Engineering
- Membership of a relevant institution
