Senior Quality Technologist
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Quality Technologist on behalf of our client. This role is central to the development and maintenance of quality and food safety systems, ensuring compliance with customer, third-party, and regulatory standards.
As a key member of the Quality team, the successful candidate will play an essential role in supplier and customer management, auditing, compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Supplier & Customer Management
- Maintain supplier management processes, including specification updates, risk assessments, and audits.
- Conduct supplier evaluations and provide feedback on performance.
- Ensure customer specifications and quality standards are developed, implemented, and maintained using relevant software.
- Quality Management Systems (QMS) & HACCP
- Participate in the HACCP team to maintain robust food safety systems.
- Manage document control, update processes, and assist in internal audits.
- Support external audits (e.g., BRC, Dept. of Agriculture) and ensure traceability compliance.
- Testing & Compliance
- Oversee raw material, process, and finished product testing, including microbiological, chemical, and organoleptic assessments.
- Drive root cause analysis for non-conformances and customer complaints, implementing preventive measures.
- Manage quarantined products, traceability, and shelf-life analyses for chilled and frozen items.
- Process & Quality Improvement
- Analyze data trends and identify opportunities for quality and system enhancements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements.
- Support new product development, ensuring smooth integration into the QMS.
- Technical Administration
- Maintain records for due diligence and audit purposes.
- Manage pest control processes with external contractors and ensure compliance.
- Coordinate the calibration of factory and testing equipment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or higher in a Food Science-related subject.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within FMCG or food retail.
- Proficiency in food safety standards (HACCP, BRC) and legislation.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
- Lead Auditor certification and HACCP certification are advantageous.
- Proven ability to train and coach teams effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools and relevant software applications.
